Golestan - The area under camelina cultivation in Golestan province's rain-fed lands has reached over 6,000 hectares, a 600% jump from last year, according to the head of the province's Agricultural Organization.

 

Ebrahim Hezarjaribi said the oilseed crop has gained a key position in the local cropping pattern due to its drought tolerance, low production costs, suitability for rain-fed farming, and role in cereal rotation.

 

He called camelina strategic for reducing Iran's dependence on imported oilseeds.
