Annual date production reaches 1m tons in Iran

Tehran - Iran's date industry continues to flourish, with the country producing an impressive 1 million tons of dates annually.

While date cultivation is possible in 15 provinces across Iran, the highest production is concentrated in six key regions: Sistan and Baluchestan, Khuzestan, Fars, Hormozgan, Bushehr, and Kerman. These provinces boast extensive date plantations, with Sistan and Baluchestan leading the way with 63,000 hectares of cultivated land.

This valuable agricultural commodity not only meets domestic demand but also contributes significantly to Iran's agricultural exports.

Dates, often referred to as "black gold" in the Middle East, are a staple fruit in Iran, particularly in the southern regions.

Their delicious taste and nutritional value have made them a popular choice for both domestic consumption and export. To honor this valuable crop, Iran has designated September 25th as National Date Day.
