Agriculture Minister urges collective action to protect natural resources

Tehran – Iranian Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri described the preservation of natural resources as a national duty, emphasizing that resources belong to the people, not just the government.
“Natural resources are not government property; they are a national treasure belonging to the people," Nouri said recently during a national tree-planting ceremony.
Referring to a national plan with the aim of planting up to one billion trees across the country to combat desertification and restore forests, he stressed the necessity of widespread participation and the crucial contributions of the armed forces in forest preservation.
The minister also stressed the importance of public engagement, particularly from rural communities, in light of increasing food security concerns driven by population growth and climate change.
"Our goal is self-sufficiency in essential agricultural products like sugar and rice," Nouri said, adding that the administration is committed to achieving national aspirations through dedicated service and the full utilization of national capabilities.
