Agriculture Minister reports grain abundance in Iran

Tehran – Iran is experiencing an abundance of grains, with domestic production and strategic reserves remaining robust even under wartime conditions, according to the Minister of Agriculture.

Speaking on Monday, during a meeting with Kaveh Zargaran, Chairman of the Board of the Iran Grain Association, Gholamreza Nouri highlighted recent favorable rainfall and expressed strong optimism for the upcoming agricultural season.

"We have a blessed and prosperous cropping year ahead," the minister said. "Thanks to the dedication of our farmers and the efforts of grain market suppliers, market conditions will remain favorable."

Nouri also detailed the government's support policies for domestic grain producers. "This year, to enhance quality and productivity in guaranteed wheat purchases, we will pay wheat farmers 20,000 tomans above the approved rate—exceeding the standard range of 27,500 to 29,500 tomans—for high-quality wheat," he stated.

The minister underscored the resilience of Iran's grain sector, particularly during times of crisis. "Relying entirely on domestic production and the abundance of grain in storage facilities, we have faced no disruptions in the production or supply of staple grain products," Nouri said.

He further noted that the ample availability of wheat and flour, combined with sufficient bread production and distribution, guaranteed nationwide stability throughout the critical period of wartime conditions.
