Agricultural exports from East Azarbaijan up 62 percent in one month

Tehran - East Azarbaijan Province has recorded a significant 62% surge in its agricultural exports processed through plant quarantine centers during the Iranian month of Farvardin (corresponding to March 21 - April 20), a report said.
According to the report released by the Ministry of Agriculture Public Relations Office, Shahram Shafiee, a provincial official, said that a total of 25,964 tons of diverse agricultural products were exported from the province's plant quarantine facilities in Farvardin of the current year.
“This figure represents a remarkable increase when compared to the same period in the preceding year.”
He said that the primary export commodities included raisins, dates, dried fruits, and greenhouse-grown produce.
The official also indicated that the main destinations for these exports were countries within the Eurasian region and neighboring nations.
The head of the Provincial Agriculture Organization also drew attention to the decline in imports, reporting that the volume of agricultural product imports through the province's plant quarantine centers reached 4,634 tons during this period.
“This reflects a notable 70% reduction compared to Farvardin of the previous year,” Shafiee said.
