AREEO largest research, training organization in Mideast, deputy minister says
Tehran - Deputy Agriculture Minister and head of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO) Gholamreza Golmohammadi said AREEO is recognized as the largest research and training organization in the Middle East, highlighting its pivotal role in the country’s vaccine production.
Addressing a press conference in the Iranian capital Tehran on Sunday, Golmohammadi noted that nearly 90 percent of all vaccines produced domestically are manufactured by AREEO, including 70 percent of livestock vaccines and 30 percent of poultry vaccines, in addition to human vaccines.
According to the deputy minister, these figures clearly demonstrate the tangible outcomes and effectiveness of the organization’s scientific and research activities.
Addressing the broader performance of the agricultural sector, he emphasized that despite significant challenges such as climate change, migration, declining soil quality, and weather variability, the sector has continued to achieve notable success.
“Agricultural output has increased from approximately 25 million tons in the early years following the Islamic Revolution to about 130 million tons today, underscoring the sector’s substantial contribution to national development.”
