AREEO chief visits key seed bank in push for self-sufficiency
Karaj - The head of Iran’s Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO) toured the country's elite sugar beet seed bank and associated facilities in Karaj, the capital of the north-central Iranian province of Alborz, assessing progress in native variety development and seed production.
Gholamreza Gol-Mohammadi visited the elite sugar beet seed bank, seed storage facilities, and fodder seed processing and sorting workshops at the Sugar Beet Seed Institute.
The tour was aimed at evaluating the institute's critical capacities in preserving genetic resources and advancing domestic seed production.
During the visit, the deputy minister was introduced to new Iranian varieties of leaf beets and ornamental beets, as well as the country's first domestically developed table beet variety.
