1.8m saplings produced in East Azarbaijan, official says
East Azarbaijan - The Director General of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of East Azarbaijan Province announced that 1.8 million saplings have been produced in the province’s natural resources nurseries since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year.
Mohammadreza Elahian said the saplings - primarily poplar along with other compatible species - have been cultivated as part of Iran’s nationwide public campaign to plant one billion trees.
He added that the saplings are fully prepared for distribution.
Elahian noted that distribution will take place throughout the optimal planting season in the province, continuing until the end of Farvardin (late April).
“The saplings will be provided free of charge to applicants, with the objective of supporting wood farming and expanding green spaces across the region.”
