Iran seeking to boost red meat production

TEHRAN – Iran is planning to increase its annual red meat production to 923,000 tons by the end of the current Iranian calendar year 1403 (March 20, 2025), according to Deputy Minister of Livestock Production at the Ministry of Agriculture.
55% of the production will come from industrial units and heavy livestock, while 45% will be produced in rural areas and traditional units, Mohammad Ebrahim Hassan-Nejad said.
He also said that the Ministry of Agriculture's key programs include developing dual-purpose livestock and improving reproductive efficiency in light livestock.
"Increasing lambing, using twin-producing genes, and improving livestock nutrition will have a significant impact on increasing production," Hassan-Nejad said.
