Iran and Europe agree on new pistachio export protocol

Rafsanjan - Iran has reached a new agreement with European countries regarding the export of pistachios, according to Mohammad Mahdi Broumandi, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Horticulture.
Broumandi made the announcement at the 8th National Pistachio Festival in Rafsanjan, a city renowned as the "pistachio capital of the world."
He highlighted the significance of pistachios in Iran's agricultural economy, stating that nearly a billion dollars of the country's three billion dollars in horticultural export earnings come from pistachio sales.
To further enhance the pistachio industry, the deputy minister emphasized the need to transition from traditional, subsistence farming methods to more modern and commercialized agricultural practices. This shift, he said, is crucial for boosting production and quality.
Iran has a national-level pistachio headquarters that addresses the concerns and challenges faced by pistachio farmers. The country has also set a goal of increasing its agricultural exports, with a significant portion coming from horticultural products like pistachios.
