Gilan province now Iran’s silk production hub Gilan province now Iran’s silk production hub Gilan - The northern province of Gilan produced some 406 tons of fresh silk cocoons this year, resulting in an estimated 65 tons of raw silk, according to the head of the provincial Agriculture Organization. Saleh Mohammadi said 10,870 boxes of silkworm eggs were distributed to farmers at a regulated price of 400,000 rials per box under a decision by the Ministry of Agriculture’s Pricing Council.
