Zanjan – With all poultry farms operating at full capacity, the west-central Iranian province of Zanjan is producing a substantial surplus of chicken and eggs far beyond local consumption needs, a top agriculture official announced.

 

Mohammad Ali Sadeghi, Deputy Director of Livestock Production Improvement at the Zanjan Agricultural Jihad Organization, reported that the province's 271 poultry farms - comprising 250 broiler units and 21 layer operations - are collectively generating more than double the daily chicken requirement for the province. The surplus is being consistently dispatched to Tehran and other high-demand provinces across the country.

 

"Thanks to strategic planning and the uninterrupted placement of chicks in our farms, we are not only meeting local demand but also contributing significantly to the national protein supply," Sadeghi stated. He emphasized that there is no cause for concern regarding shortages of chicken or eggs in the region.

 

Looking ahead, Sadeghi projected strong production figures for the current year, estimating an output exceeding 60,000 tons of white meat, 12,000 tons of eggs, and 13,000 tons of red meat. "Zanjan continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening the country's food security," he added.
