TEHRAN – A young Iranian innovator from Kurdistan province has won a gold medal at a global artificial intelligence invention competition in the United States for developing an AI-powered portable system capable of monitoring hydroclimatic and environmental conditions.

 

The Sanandaj-based technology team, led by Arian Salavati, an inventor and young talent working with the Kurdistan Province Department General of Natural Resources and Watershed Management, received the prestigious gold medal for its innovative project, titled “AI-Based Portable Hydroclimate and Pollution Monitoring System.”

 

The intelligent system is designed to provide simultaneous, real-time and accurate monitoring of key hydrological, climatic and environmental indicators in a portable format.

 

Its capabilities include advanced data analysis and an early-warning system for natural hazards and flooding, as well as adaptive sampling during extreme events and safe, contactless environmental monitoring.

 

The system is also equipped with an analytical engine and an intelligent chatbot that can generate real-time reports and provide decision-support services for officials and managers involved in crisis management and watershed protection.

 

The achievement highlights the growing capacity of young Iranian specialists within the Ministry of Agriculture to develop cutting-edge technologies with international applications.

 

It also underscores the importance of expanding opportunities for the commercialization and practical deployment of innovative technologies in crisis management, natural resource conservation and watershed management.
