Tehran – Tehran Province is fast becoming a significant player in the global caviar market, signaling a promising new chapter for Iran's economy, according to the director of Fisheries and Aquatic Affairs for Tehran Province.

 

As the harvesting season kicks off, Noorollah Hosseini, has announced that local sturgeon farms are now consistently yielding high-quality caviar.

 

Last year alone, these burgeoning farms produced over 102 tons of sturgeon meat and successfully harvested more than 60 kilograms of premium caviar, he said.

 

“This substantial yield was then distributed to both domestic markets and international buyers.”

 

Hosseini highlighted Tehran's pivotal role in Iran's sturgeon farming industry, noting the cultivation of various valuable species across the province's farms. “These include sought-after varieties such as Beluga, Ship, Siberian, and Sterlet sturgeon. The consistent output underscores Tehran's growing capacity to contribute to both local consumption and global exports, positioning it as an unexpected but vital hub for this luxury commodity.”
