Red meat output in Iran rises, deputy minister says

Tehran - Iran’s livestock and poultry sector has recorded sustained growth over the past year, supported by productivity gains, improved feeding models, and stronger farm management practices, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Mohammad Ebrahim Hassan-Nejad, Deputy Minister for Livestock Production, said red meat output has reached 947,000 tons - up 3 percent since the start of the 14th government - while raw milk production has risen 2 percent to 13.05 million tons.

“The poultry sector has also expanded. Chicken meat production climbed 4 percent to nearly 2.98 million tons, and egg production increased 5 percent to 1.32 million tons.”

Hassan-Nejad noted that these figures reflect more efficient use of resources and better integration of modern farming methods.

In beekeeping, honey output for 2024–2025 is projected at 251,000 tons, a 1 percent increase, while silkworm cocoon production has stabilized at 1,600 tons, he said.
