Minister: Reforming crop, consumption patterns key to Iran food security strategy

Tehran – The Iranian minister of agriculture has identified reforming both crop patterns and consumption habits as the ministry’s core strategy for ensuring national food security.

During a visit to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), , Gholamreza Nouri met with IRNA Managing Director Hossein Jaberi Ansari and toured various departments of the agency.

The minister described IRNA as a “trusted national outlet” whose performance reflects the government’s overall approach, emphasizing its responsibility to deliver accurate and reliable information to the public.

“The Agriculture Ministry is in direct contact with society and fully tied to the country’s food security,” Nouri said. “We have 5.1 million agricultural stakeholders and about 20 million people directly engaged in production. To communicate our plans and reforms in production, distribution, and consumption, close collaboration with the media is essential.”

Highlighting the 14th government’s plan to achieve self-sufficiency in select agricultural products, Nouri underscored that the ministry’s main priorities include restructuring agricultural production patterns and promoting more efficient consumption practices.

“To make these reforms a reality, we need strong media support to build public awareness and drive change through educational and outreach programs,” he added.
