Iranian apple exports surge in first half of 2024

Tehran – Iran's apple exports have soared to $114 million in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-September 21), according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA). This marks a substantial increase compared to the same period last year.

Broadly, Iran's agricultural exports are thriving. The IRICA reports a robust 26% surge in the value of agricultural products exported during the first half of 2024 compared to 2023. This translates to 3.2 million tons of products worth $1.7 billion shipped in the first half, representing a 20% increase in volume as well.

This positive trend builds upon the success of the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2024). Ruhollah Latifi, spokesman for the International Relations and Trade Development Committee of Iran's House of Industry, Mining and Trade, reported a 22.5% increase in the value of agricultural and foodstuff exports last year, reaching $6.3 billion.

These products accounted for a significant 12.8% of Iran's total non-oil exports in that period.

Iraq remains the top destination for Iranian agricultural products, importing a substantial $1.986 billion worth of goods last year, or 31.5% of Iran's total food and agricultural exports. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) followed closely behind, importing $751 million, while Russia took third place with $521.5 million.
