Tehran – Iran maintained uninterrupted imports of livestock inputs, meat, and other critical production chain items throughout the recent war period, while also intensifying health inspections and pursuing self-sufficiency policies, the head of Iran's Veterinary Organization announced.

 

Alireza Rafieipour said imports of raw animal products, including feed ingredients such as corn and soybeans, as well as day-old chicks, fertilized hatching eggs, vaccines, medicines, and supplements, continued without disruption.

 

"The process did not stop during the war and will continue afterward," he said, noting that Iran trades with around 70 countries annually, and while trading partners temporarily dropped from 37 to about 20-25 due to the conflict, no halt in essential imports occurred.

 

Imports of frozen and fresh beef and mutton, including vacuum-packed meat, also continued through various border crossings, the senior official said.

 

On specialty poultry—such as ostrich, turkey, partridge, and quail—Rafieipour said domestic production has grown significantly in recent years, with many provinces now reaching desirable capacity levels, particularly for ostriches.
