Iran to develop agro towns using geothermal energy

Arak – Geothermal energy will be employed for the development of agro towns in the central province of Markazi, an official announced.
An agro-town is an agglomeration in a rural environment with a population of several thousands but whose workforce's main occupation is agriculture. An agro-town also lacks the administrative, commercial and industrial functions that are usually common in the centers of such size.
In a recent meeting with other provincial officials, the managing director of the Agricultural Townships Company in the province further emphasized the need to focus on greenhouse units and called for cooperation from relevant provincial organizations to provide water, electricity, and gas for agricultural townships.
During the meeting, the challenges and issues of agricultural townships in Central Province, particularly the Khandab greenhouse township, the Mahalat ornamental fish aquaculture township, and the Khomein greenhouse township, were examined.
