Iran to begin direct pistachio export to Europe from Yazd province: Deputy minister
Yazd –Iran will soon begin direct pistachio exports to Europe from the central province of Yazd, according to Deputy Agriculture Minister Mohammad Mehdi Boroumandi.
Boroumandi announced this during a recent visit to the Pishgaman Dry Port in Yazd.
He added that, following the government’s newly issued regulations, all agricultural products sold domestically must now carry identification codes to ensure traceability and transparency - a policy in which Yazd is poised to serve as a national model.
Boroumandi also noted that Iran currently exports agricultural goods to more than 80 countries, adding that Yazd’s certified laboratories have now been cleared to support direct pistachio exports to European markets.
Meanwhile, the head of Yazd’s Agricultural Organization emphasized that the province, with its focus on sustainable agriculture and the efficient use of virtual water resources, has an annual export capacity of 50,000 tons of pistachios, greenhouse produce, and orchard crops, as well as surplus production in dairy, poultry, and eggs that contributes to high foreign exchange earnings.
