Iran to FAO: Punish aggressors or ’no human will survive’

Rome – Iran’s ambassador to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) warned that failure to punish aggressors who target food security will leave "no human being alive in the future."

Speaking at an emergency FAO Council session, Ali Kiani-Rad paid tribute to 168 Iranian schoolchildren martyred by US and Israeli bombs.

"Solving problems without addressing their roots will not prevent future crises," he said, urging members to look beyond the recent war's impact on food security.

While reaffirming Iran’s respect for FAO neutrality, Kiani-Rad strongly opposed any political statements outside the organization’s mandate.

He also defended Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, challenging detractors to "study international law once more."

Despite "unjust sanctions, imposed wars, and hostility" over 47 years, Kiani-Rad said Iran has never reduced its cooperation with the FAO.
