Iran stockpiles 80,000 tons of surplus chicken to stabilize market
Tehran - Iran's Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri announced that the government has purchased and frozen 80,000 tons of surplus chicken from producers to manage potential price fluctuations.
Speaking before the Majlis Economic Commission, Nouri stated that 85% of the country's food security relies on domestic production, with only 15% imported. Despite regional tensions, he confirmed no disruption has occurred in the nation's food supply.
"At the start of the war, we had 6 million tons of goods in storage. Today, despite consumption, we still hold nearly the same level, unprecedented even in peacetime," he said.
Nouri added that transparency policies and economic reforms have broken import registration monopolies and made agricultural trade more competitive.
