Iran seeking to boost red meat production in rural livestock farms

Tehran - The Iranian Ministry of Agriculture plans to launch a program to increase red meat production in rural livestock farms, aiming for national self-sufficiency.
According to Mehr News Agency, Mohammad Ebrahim Hassan Nejad, Deputy Minister for Livestock Production Affairs, said the production growth plan in rural livestock farms will be implemented in cooperation with Headquarters for Executing the Order of the Imam.
This plan aims to achieve self-sufficiency in red meat production by focusing on improving efficiency and increasing the number of livestock in the country's villages, he added.
According to the report, this plan is scheduled to be implemented in 3,600 villages with 10 million heads of livestock.
