Iran seafood exports surge in first quarter

Iran's exports of fishery products experienced a significant boost in the first three months of 2024 (Iranian calendar year 1403), according to Abbas Mokhtari, director general of the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture's Office of Quality Improvement, Processing, and Aquatic Market.
Mokhtari reported a rise of over 40% in weight and over 30% in value compared to the same period in 2023. This translates to an increase from 52,000 tons valued at $93.1 million in 2023 to 73,000 tons valued at $121.4 million in 2024.
The official also highlighted a 41% growth in caviar exports, with 1,353 kg of high-quality caviar fetching $721,000 during the quarter.
