Iran produces 4m tons of apples annually

Iran's deputy minister of agriculture, Nabi Hadavand, announced that the country produces a staggering 3-4 million tons of fresh apples annually.

This figure highlights Iran's position as a major apple producer, dedicating a significant 250,000 hectares of land for apple cultivation, Hadavand told an Iraqi delegation visiting an Iranian fruit sorting and packaging facility.

He emphasized the leading role of Iran's northwestern provinces, West Azarbaijan and East Azarbaijan, alongside Tehran, in producing high-quality apples.

Interestingly, West Azarbaijan stands out as the national forerunner in apple production, Hadavand noted.

Iran's apple production doesn't just satisfy domestic demand; it fuels exports to neighboring countries like Iraq. Hadavand expressed the Ministry of Agriculture's commitment to strengthening these exports and introducing Iraq to Iran's broader agricultural potential.
