Iran prioritizes ties with Africa: Agriculture Minister

Tehran - Iranian Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri says Iran is determined to strengthen ties with African countries, including Sudan.
Nouri made the remarks in a meeting with Sudan’s Foreign Minister Ali Youssef Ahmed al-Sharif, highlighting the significance of Africa in Tehran’s overall policy objectives.
In a historic visit, Ahmed al-Sharif has arrived in Tehran for the first time since the resumption of diplomatic ties after nearly a decade. His meetings with Iranian officials aim to strengthen bilateral relations and foster cooperation.
According to Nouri, the Iranian government is actively pursuing expanded relations with African countries.
“Iran is ready to share its agricultural knowledge and technology with Sudan in the areas of agriculture and livestock,” the Iranian minister added.
The Sudanese Foreign Minister, for his part, noted that enhancing bilateral agricultural ties could significantly boost trade between the two nations.
Both ministers confirmed that the Iran-Sudan Joint Commission meeting will be held in May 2025.
