Iran pistachio exports soar

Tehran – Iran has witnessed a dramatic surge in pistachio exports during the first four months of the current year, according to the chairman of Kerman’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture.
The value of pistachio shipments has skyrocketed by 193% compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of $273 million, Mehdi Tayebzadeh said.
According to the data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), this remarkable growth has contributed to a broader increase in agricultural exports.
Iran exported a total of $1.18 billion worth of agricultural products during this period, marking a 32% year-on-year increase in value and a 22% rise in volume. Pistachios accounted for the largest share of these exports, totaling $237 million.
The country’s overall non-oil trade also experienced growth, reaching $36 billion in the first four months of the year. Exports contributed $17.5 billion to this figure, while imports amounted to $18.5 billion.
