Tehran – Iran's greenhouse farming sector has experienced a remarkable 161% expansion over the past ten years, according to the latest agricultural census, signaling a significant boost to the nation's food security efforts.

 

The findings, released by the Statistical Center of Iran, indicate the sector now supports over 36,000 producers.

 

Gholamreza Goudarzi, head of the Statistical Center, announced the results at a meeting on Monday, emphasizing the crucial role of the 2024 agricultural census in informing future agricultural policies. He highlighted the extensive collaboration between governmental and military institutions, as well as the media's role in disseminating information to farmers.

 

"The success of this census is a testament to the coordinated efforts of numerous agencies," stated Goudarzi, Tehran Times reported.

 

"From the judiciary and parliament to provincial governments and various ministries, the collective support was vital."
