Tehran – Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a consultative meeting with experts in ecosystem management to discuss institutional strategies and international cooperation for strengthening the country’s vaccine ecosystem.

 

Participants reviewed opportunities to expand collaboration with international organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), and other UN agencies.

 

Discussions focused on establishing structured cooperation mechanisms to improve governance, coordination, and the effectiveness of Iran’s emerging vaccine ecosystem.

 

Dr. Sadatinejad, Director General for International Affairs on Environment and Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the key elements of a national vaccine ecosystem.

 

He stressed that closer engagement with international organizations, effective use of Iran’s scientific and technological capabilities, and alignment with global health and biosecurity frameworks are critical to the initiative’s success.

 

The national vaccine ecosystem project aims to integrate vaccine development, production, evaluation, distribution, and governance within a unified framework. It is intended to strengthen the country’s preparedness and response to emerging and re-emerging diseases and other biological threats, while enhancing national resilience and promoting regional and international cooperation in public health.

 

The meeting was attended by experts from the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute, faculty members of Tarbiat Modares University, and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who exchanged views on institutional requirements and future cooperation for developing Iran’s vaccine ecosystem.
