Iran among world’s top five most resilient food security systems: Minister
Tehran – Iran ranks among the world’s five most resilient food security systems, driven by strong domestic production and the ability to withstand economic and environmental challenges, Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri said.
Speaking at a meeting with agricultural academics and private-sector representatives, Nouri stressed that food security remains Iran’s top priority and noted that the country has maintained stable supplies of essential commodities despite sanctions, severe droughts, and logistical disruptions.
“The resilience of Iran’s food security system places it among the world’s top five,” he said, attributing the achievement to coordinated efforts across government, producers, and the scientific community.
Nouri emphasized that improving productivity is the key to future agricultural growth, given the country’s limited land and water resources. He added that the ministry is expanding cooperation with universities and promoting modern technologies to enhance water efficiency and crop yields.
The minister also highlighted Iran’s strategic location along major North–South and East–West trade corridors, saying the country has the potential to become a regional food hub and strengthen its role in agricultural trade and food processing.
