Iran agricultural exports witness major rise in one year

Iran's agricultural exports have seen a significant boost, reaching $1 billion more in the past year compared to the same period ending in March 2023, according to Agriculture Minister Mohammad-Ali Nikbakht.
This marks a positive turnaround for the sector, which had experienced nearly four years of negative growth.
Nikbakht highlighted a 0.5% growth achieved in late 2023 and expressed optimism for continued progress in the coming year.
The news comes alongside positive signs for inflation. Iran's overall inflation rate sits at 2.8%, with food and essential goods experiencing an even lower rate of 1.8%. Notably, inflation within the agricultural sector itself has remained lower than the national average.
Minister Nikbakht further emphasized an improvement in Iran's reserves of agricultural inputs and essential goods compared to the previous year. This suggests a potential for sustained growth in the sector.
