Iran agricultural exports surge in 5 months

Tehran – Iran's agricultural exports have experienced a significant increase in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2024 to August 22, 2024).
According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), the country exported 2.657 million tons of agricultural products valued at $1.453 billion during this period.
Compared to the same period last year, Iran's agricultural exports witnessed a remarkable growth of 22% in weight and 33% in value. This surge is attributed to the increased demand for Iranian agricultural products in international markets.
Pistachios emerged as the top agricultural export, with a value of $352 million. Other notable exports included tomatoes ($177 million), apples ($111 million), watermelons ($108 million), and potatoes ($52 million). Greenhouse peppers, oranges, pistachios, apples, and lettuce were identified as the country's primary agricultural exports.
The substantial growth in Iran's agricultural exports highlights the country's potential as a major player in the global agricultural market. This positive trend is likely to contribute to the country's economic development and foreign exchange earnings.
