Iran advancing sustainable development via water, soil projects, deputy minister says
Tehran – The Deputy Minister of Water and Soil at the Ministry of Agriculture underscored the critical need for water and soil projects to ensure national food security, saying that these infrastructure initiatives not only preserve essential resources but also drive sustainable development amid the country’s current conditions.
Speaking at the second meeting of the Deputy Ministry’s Board of Directors this year, Safdar Niazi Shahraki said, "The execution of water and soil projects as agricultural infrastructure not only safeguards basic resources but also fosters sustainable development under the present circumstances."
Emphasizing the importance of completing and accelerating semi-finished water and soil projects nationwide, the Deputy Minister also highlighted an agricultural transformation initiative in Bushehr Province.
He noted that the first phase of this project is currently underway across 1,100 hectares of palm groves in the Sa’adabad and Abpakhsh region of Dashtestan County.
According to Shahraki, the project is progressing with the dual objectives of protecting and improving water resource productivity in agriculture while increasing date production efficiency.
