Iran Plant Protection Organization prioritizes safer pesticide alternatives

Tehran – Iran's Plant Protection Organization has launched a significant initiative to phase out hazardous pesticides and adopt safer alternatives.
According to Maryam Jalili-Moghaddam, the organization's head, this transition is a paramount priority and is being implemented with urgency.
“To meet the growing demands of the agricultural sector amidst rapid regional trade expansion, the organization is strategically partnering with knowledge-based companies,” she said.
Jalili-Moghaddam emphasized that by collaborating with these companies, the organization aims to enhance efficiency and address the increasing need for sustainable agricultural practices.
Beyond reducing pesticide risks, the organization is also investing in technological advancements, she noted.
“Upgrades to systems such as the Electronic Agricultural Permit System, monitoring infrastructure, nurseries, and comprehensive plant pest monitoring systems are integral components of a broader modernization effort to make operations more data-driven and efficient.”
