Iran, Kazakhstan agree to eliminate customs tariffs to boost trade

Tehran - The Islamic Republic of Iran and Kazakhstan have reached an agreement to eliminate customs tariffs in a bid to significantly boost bilateral trade.
In a meeting with Iranian Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri on Saturday, Kazakhstan's Minister of Trade and Integration, Arman Shakkaliev, said that while trade volume increased by 13% last year to over $300 million, this is far below the two countries' potential.
He projected that the volume of trade between the two nations could reach $3 billion.
"We can export two million tons of wheat and barley to Iran annually without tariffs," Shakkaliev said.
He also highlighted the importance of Iran's capacity to export Kazakh products to other countries in the region, stressing the need for collaborative efforts in this area.
