Tehran – Iran and Belarus have signed a series of new agreements aimed at expanding cooperation in agriculture, forestry, veterinary services, and plant and animal quarantine, including a plan to jointly produce agricultural machinery and potash fertilizer.

 

The agreements were reached during a meeting between Iran’s Minister of Agriculture and Belarus’s Minister of Industry, held to follow up on commitments made during the Iranian president’s recent visit to Minsk.

 

Under the new framework, Iran will supply part of Belarus’s food requirements, while Belarus will provide Iran with essential agricultural raw materials. Iran also expressed readiness to facilitate the transit of Belarusian agricultural products to third-country markets.

 

One of the most significant outcomes of the talks was an agreement to jointly produce potash fertilizer inside Iran. Under this arrangement, Belarus will supply a portion of the potash, and parts of the production chain will be completed domestically.

 

Drawing on Belarus’s advanced industrial capabilities, the two sides also agreed to move forward with the joint supply and manufacture of heavy agricultural machinery, including tractors, combine harvesters, trucks, and ultra-heavy haulers—in cooperation with Iranian firms such as Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company.

 

Both ministers described the set of agreements as a concrete step toward expanding bilateral cooperation and leveraging the complementary strengths of the two countries to advance their shared economic interests.
