Hamedan exports 80 percent of its raisin output
Tehran – Around 80% of Hamedan Province’s raisin production is exported to international markets, making raisins the province’s top agricultural export in terms of foreign-exchange earnings, according to agricultural officials.
Reza Bahramlou, head of the Hamedan Agricultural Organization, said the province produces 40,000–45,000 tons of raisins annually, supported by a robust grape industry that yields approximately 300,000 tons of grapes each year.
With nearly 24,000 hectares of vineyards, Hamedan is one of Iran’s leading grape-growing and raisin-producing regions. The province’s grape production per capita stands at 235 kilograms, significantly above both national and global averages.
Bahramlou noted that Malayer County accounts for about 60% of Hamedan’s grape production and serves as a major hub for cultivation, processing, and export activities.
He emphasized that the raisin industry plays a strategic role in generating value-added products, creating rural employment, and expanding Iran’s non-oil exports, further strengthening Hamedan’s position in global agricultural markets.
