Green tea leaves purchases reach 84,000 tons in Iran

Over 84,000 tons of green tea leaves, valued at 139.7 billion tomans, were purchased from Iranian tea farmers between May 7 and July 13, 2024, announced the head of the Iran Tea Organization.
Habib Jahanshazaei, head of the organization, said that 552 billion tomans of the tea farmers' outstanding payments have been settled, adding that about 40% of the payments have been deposited into their accounts by July 22, and the rest will be paid gradually in the coming weeks.
"The second harvest (summer) will end in the next few days," Jahanshazaei noted. "Today, 78 tea processing factories in all tea-growing counties are busy purchasing green tea leaves. Tea farmers can refer to these units to deliver high-quality green tea leaves."
Reassuring tea farmers in Gilan and Mazandaran, Jahanshazaei emphasized that the 78 tea processing factories will continue purchasing green tea leaves during the last days of the summer harvest, and there is no need to worry about the closure of guaranteed purchase centers.
