Egg exports soar to 130,000 tons

Iran exported a whopping 130,000 tons of eggs in the past year, a significant increase from the previous year's 55,000 tons, according to the deputy agriculture minister for livestock and poultry affairs.

This surge translates to over $140 million in revenue, Mohammad-Ebrahim Hassannejad added.

“Iran's eggs are proving popular with neighboring countries, with Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Oman, and the UAE being key destinations.  This trend is expected to continue,” he said projecting exports to reach 160,000 tons in the coming year.

Iran boasts a robust poultry industry with over 18,300 active poultry units producing a massive 2.6 million tons of chicken meat annually. The country aims to achieve self-sufficiency in chicken meat production this year, fulfilling all domestic needs and strategic reserves.
