Bushehr harvests over 7,700 tons of farmed shrimp
Bushehr - More than 7,700 tons of farmed shrimp have been harvested so far from aquaculture ponds in Iran’s Bushehr Province, according to the province’s Director General of Fisheries.
Aghil Amini said that harvesting will continue along the province’s coastal farms until December.
He reported that shrimp farming this year spans 4,987 hectares of coastal land, with 4,571 ponds stocked with juvenile shrimp. So far, harvesting has taken place across 1,832 hectares, producing 7,709 tons of shrimp.
The official added that 2.4 billion shrimp larvae were stocked in ponds earlier this season, and harvesting has already been completed in about 1,800 ponds.
Thanks to favorable weather conditions and improved farm management, Amini said, this year’s total production is expected to surpass last year’s levels.
