Tabriz – The Iranian Minister of Agriculture has reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to sustainable development and good governance, emphasizing the need to balance economic growth with environmental protection and social equity.

Speaking at a recent gathering of industrialists and miners in East Azerbaijan Province, Gholamreza Nouri outlined the government's approach as one that seeks to maximize the benefits of existing resources while ensuring that future generations inherit a healthy planet.

He stressed that this approach is rooted in the principles of participatory governance and requires active engagement from all sectors of society.

"We are determined to create a business-friendly environment that encourages private sector investment," Nouri said. "East Azerbaijan Province serves as a shining example of how private sector involvement can drive economic growth and development."

Highlighting the government's focus on environmental stewardship, he pointed to the plight of Lake Urmia, a once-magnificent lake that has suffered significant shrinkage in recent years.

"We are committed to restoring Lake Urmia and safeguarding all of our natural resources," the minister said. "This is not merely an environmental issue; it is a matter of national security and intergenerational justice."

Nouri envisions good governance as a three-sided triangle composed of the government, the people, and society, arguing that sustainable development can only be achieved through a harmonious balance of these three forces.

"By working together in unity, we can build a more prosperous and equitable society," he concluded.
