‘Iran strongly committed to environmental protection, human health’

Tehran – The head of Iran's Plant Protection Organization emphasized the country's commitment to safeguarding the environment and human health.
Maryam Jalili Moghaddam highlighted the organization's focus on reducing the use of high-risk pesticides and promoting biological control methods.
"Our approach is to minimize the consumption of hazardous pesticides and expand the use of biological control," she said.
The senior official also announced that cases involving safe and biological compounds are being expedited.
Currently, Iran uses 35,000 to 40,000 tons of pesticides annually, 80% of which are produced domestically, according to Jalili Moghaddam. “The organization is also exploring modern technologies like irradiation for pest management.”
