Razi Institute expanding its global scientific influence, official says

Tehran – Iran’s prestigious Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute is actively elevating its international scientific profile through strategic collaborations and impactful conferences. Dr. Rainak Ghaderi, Head of Academic Relations and International Affairs, said.

Addressing the recent International Online Conference on Venomous Animals and Antivenom, organized in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Ghaderi said the conference provided a vital forum for international scientific and research exchange, specifically aimed at enhancing Razi Institute's laboratory capabilities to achieve "WHO Collaborating Laboratory" status.

The two-day event featured seven specialized panels, covering topics ranging from venomous animal epidemiology and venom mechanisms to antivenom development, emergency treatment, and international research network establishment. Attendees included scientists and experts from a diverse range of countries, including Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and beyond, demonstrating the conference's global reach, according to the official website of the institute.

Dr. Ghaderi said Razi Institute's commitment to international collaboration is further evidenced by its successful joint ventures with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in hosting conferences on foot-and-mouth disease and workshops for African and Eurasian countries over the past two years.

“Looking ahead, the institute is planning international conferences on Vaccines and Sheep and Goat Pox in collaboration with reference laboratories in South Africa, Belgium, and the UK.”

He further acknowledged the strong support from WHO, both at the national and regional levels, highlighting the growing positive relationship between the two organizations.

“By fostering robust international partnerships and pursuing global accreditations, Razi Institute is establishing itself as a respected reference institution in medical, veterinary, and public health research on a global scale.”
