Iran holds workshop in Kerman to empower rural women

Kerman – A workshop aimed at empowering rural and nomadic women was held in Rayen District of Kerman Province.

The workshop focused on training participants in planting forest and rangeland species as part of the national “One Billion Tree Planting” initiative.

Additionally, attendees learned about various rangeland management plans designed with the active involvement of rural women.

Mehdi Mohammad Mirzaiyan, head of the Education, Extension, and Public Participation Department at the Natural Resources of Kerman, emphasized that a primary goal of this initiative is to foster participation and harness the potential of rural women.

Askar-Nejad, head of the Rangeland Affairs Department at the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of Kerman Province, also highlighted the importance of rangeland management plans in preserving and enhancing the productivity of rangelands.

He emphasized that rangelands play a crucial role in soil conservation, groundwater recharge, and livestock production.

“Any mismanagement of rangelands, such as out-of-season grazing, exceeding grazing capacity, and the unsustainable harvesting of medicinal and rangeland plants, can lead to the loss of genetic resources, accelerated desertification, dust storms, droughts, and other environmental problems.”
