Iran Razi Institute joins global efforts to strengthen Biological Weapons Convention

Geneva - The fifth session of the Working Group on the Strengthening of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) is currently taking place at the United Nations Office in Geneva.

This year’s meeting, which runs from December 2 to 13, 2024, is focused on key issues including assistance, response, preparedness, confidence-building, transparency, compliance, verification, international cooperation, and the science and technology review mechanism.

Among the participants is the Razi Vaccine & Serum Research Institute of Iran. Renowned for its contributions to vaccine development and biotechnology, the Institute is eager to share its expertise and contribute to enhancing global biosecurity standards.

Established in 1975, the BWC aims to prevent the development, production, and stockpiling of biological and toxin weapons. As biological threats continue to evolve, this session is critical for fostering international cooperation and developing effective strategies to mitigate these risks.
