The Minister of Jihad-Agriculture speech at the 35th FAO
Asia-Pacific Regional Conference

The Minister of Jihad-Agriculture, after emphasizing on the
great need to exploit investment capacities in the agricultural sector of the
Asia-Pacific region with two approaches, intra-regional and extra-regional,
stated that: The agricultural sector in its growth and development process
needs profound changes in the type and amount of use of the main factors of
production, such as using modern and low-cost technologies to address the issue
of rural employment, replacing skilled labor with old and illiterate labor,
integrating agricultural production and trade, managing the devastating effects
of climate change, preventing mass rural migration, and controlling poverty and
hunger, which all of these are affected by two key factors, namely management
and investment.

The Minister of Jihad-Agriculture of the Islamic Republic of
Iran, Dr. Khavazi, at the 35th FAO Asia-Pacific Regional Conference, which was
held virtually, stated that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United
Nations (FAO) has a significant role in reducing poverty and increasing food
security in the member countries.

He also pointed that: Islamic Republic of Iran, in order to
deal with the consequences of climate change and related risks, has chosen some
adaptation strategies, such as: changing the growing season, changing crops,
using new technologies, transferring cultivation from outdoor to indoor,
restricting the cultivation of some crops such as rice in some geographical
areas, increasing the volume of water stored annually through the
implementation of watershed management operations, controlling soil erosion,
controlling sediment, as well as increasing forage production.
