Khorasan Razavi - A significant technological improvement has been successfully implemented in the commercial production process of edible mushroom spawn at the Biotechnology Research Center of the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR–Jihad-e Daneshgahi) in Khorasan Razavi Province, according to a provincial official.

 

Citing the Ministry of Agriculture’s official website, Hayedeh Vahid-Afagh, Head of Greenhouse and Edible Mushroom Affairs at the Khorasan Razavi Agriculture Organization, said the upgrade involved replacing conventional spawn packaging methods with advanced filtered cellophane materials.

 

She explained that the filtered packaging was developed and supplied through a research partnership with a technology-based company specializing in edible mushroom production inputs.

 

“Following a series of technical and performance evaluations, the new packaging method was formally approved and integrated into the spawn production line at the research center.”

 

Vahid-Afagh noted that the technological upgrade has significantly improved mycelium growth conditions, increased production efficiency, enhanced spawn quality, and shortened the maturation period of commercial edible mushroom spawn.

 

She added that the achievement marks an important step in advancing applied biotechnology and optimizing production technologies in the edible mushroom industry, with the potential to substantially boost productivity and quality across this strategic agricultural sector in the province.
