Zahedan – The Southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan has been recognized as Iran’s aquaculture capital, accounting for 23% of the country’s total fisheries production, according to the Fisheries Organization of Iran.

Shakouri, the organization’s Deputy for Aquaculture, made the announcement during a ceremony in Zahedan introducing new regional managers.

He described the past year as a milestone for fishing and shrimp farming, particularly in Gwatar, and underscored the development of the Makran coasts as a strategic priority.

The official further disclosed that negotiations are underway to attract Indian investment for the establishment of a 500-hectare Artemia farming project in the province.
