Head of the development center of sericulture (silk farming)
of Iran, Adil Sarvi, told that: This year, 47,000 boxes of silkworm seeds have
been provided to silk farmer across the country. Sarvi, after stating that in
14 provinces of the country, including tropical areas, silkworm seed was
distributed, added that: Nowadays, silkworm seeds eggs are being distributed in
the centers of the temperate provinces. He also mentioned that: Last year we had
1385 tons of silk cocoons production in the country, and currently, 25,000
households across the country are raising silkworms.
He, after stating that about 187,000 mulberry seedlings were
distributed free of charge among silk farmers in 19 provinces of the country,
mentioned that: The guaranteed purchase price of the wet silk cocoons has also
increased well this year, and has been determined with a 56% increase to be
33,500 tomans per kilogram.

of Iran has also mentioned that: The trend shows that we will have a good
market in silk cocoons and we hope that with the efforts of silk farmers, we
will be able to take a step towards self-reliance in the carpet industry, silk
textiles and domestic production.
