Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding of the third
phase of the joint cooperation project between Iran and UNIDO

This project from three years ago with the title of
empowerment and development of access of Chabahar fisheries industry to global
and regional tuna markets was managed and accomplished by the Office of Quality
Improvement, Technology and Development of the Iranian Fisheries Market.

In the first and second phases, in order to improve the
methods of fishing, sea and land maintenance, training of fishermen and
processors with the relevant optimal methods was carried out with the technical
and financial cooperation of Japan and UNIDO with a credit of $ 500,000.

It was determined, based on this memorandum, focus should be
put on production of high value-added products, in the form of tuna value chain
in Chabahar region.

The third phase of the project, based on the successful
achievements of the first and second stages, will be implemented operationally
to start processing and exporting value-added products, and at the end, our
country will be deemed as one of the producers and exporters of tuna meat in
international markets, special to the country of Japan.

Other achievements of the project will help eliminate deprivation,
generate income and create productive employment, especially for women in that
region.
